What is Microneedling?

The SkinPen® device initiates this natural process with a finely-tuned micro-needling pen by creating hundreds of temporary micro-sized openings to initiate and stimulate the natural healing properties of the skin. These small openings are created with the SkinPen®’s disposable needle cartridge, which achieves results without thermal energy or chemicals applied to the skin.

While multiple sessions are typically recommended to achieve optimal results depending on your specific goals, noticeable changes can be seen just one week after treatment and gradually improve as the body’s healing process begins to take effect.

Microneedling benefits include improved texture including the reduction of acne scarring, skin tightening, reduction of fine lines and wrinkles, improved tone and the reduction of unwanted pigment, such as melasma. Our practitioners have seen drastic improvements in the signs of aging and imperfections in our patients’ skin using SkinPen.

Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy

(aka The Vampire Facial)

Enhance the positive effects of microneedling by combining Microneedling and Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) Therapy. PRP is a sample of blood plasma that has been enriched with platelets.

The PRP Process

To obtain PRP, Laura (RN + Owner) will take a small amount of blood from the patient. The vile is then is placed into the centrifuge machine to separate the platelets from the blood. PRP is extracted from the vile and microneedled into the skin using The SkinPen®.

Benefits

These platelets are proven to speed healing and repair everything from fine lines to hair loss. PRP’s growth factors go to work in these deeper skin layers, encouraging collagen growth as well as rejuvenation of collagen cells.

Downtime

The exact length of recovery varies depending on the patient’s skin type and depth of treatment, but most patients are completely recovered within 24 hours. Side effects are similar to a mild sunburn, such as redness, tenderness, and some swelling. However, these symptoms are temporary and typically disappear within 12 hours to a few days.
